Position Overview

Insights and intelligence are the cornerstones of our product offering. We ingest and process massive amounts of data from a variety of sources to help our users understand the overall health of their customers at each stage of their journey.  As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be directly responsible for designing and implementing the next-generation data architecture leveraging technologies such as Databricks, TiDB, and Kafka.

This role is open to remote work anywhere within Canada and the U.S.

 

What You’ll Do 

  • Drive high impact, cross-functional data engineering projects built on top of a modern, best-in-class data stack, working with a variety of open source and Cloud technologies
  • Solve interesting and unique data problems at high volume and large scale  
  • Build and optimize the performance of batch, stream, and queue-based solutions including Kafka and Apache Spark
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from different teams to drive forward the data roadmap
  • Implement data retention, security and governance standards
  • Work with all engineering teams to help drive best practices for ownership and self-serve data processing
  • Support and expand standards, guidelines, tooling and best practices for data engineering at Catalyst
  • Support other data engineers in delivering our critical pipelines
  • Focus on data quality, cost effective scalability, and distributed system reliability and establish automated mechanisms
  • Work cross functionally with application engineers, SRE, product, data analysts, data scientists, or ML engineers

 

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of experience successfully implementing modern data architectures
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Demonstrated experience implementing ETL pipelines with Spark (we use Pyspark)
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL and/or other modern programming language
  • Deep understanding of SQL/New SQL with relational data stores such as Postgres/MySQL
  • A strong desire to show ownership of problems you identify
  • Experience with modern Data Warehouses and Lakes such as Redshift, Snowflake, and Databricks Delta Lake
  • Experience with distributed streaming tools like Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming
  • Familiarity with an orchestration tool such as Airflow, dbt, and Delta Live tables
  • Experience with automated testing for distributed systems (unit testing, E2E testing, QA, data expectation monitoring)
  • Experience working with application engineers, product, and data scientists
  • Experience with leveraging caching for performance using data stores such as Redis and ElasticSearch
  • Experience with maintaining and scaling heterogeneous and large volumes of data in production
  • Practical experience with DevOps best practices (CICD, IAC) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Change Data Capture systems is a nice to have

What You’ll Do 

  • Work closely with developers, design and product to build enterprise-ready features powering the workflows our users depend on daily. 
  • Design and implement high performance, reliable, and scalable systems

  • Participate in peer code and design reviews
  • Drive projects independently from technical design through completion 
  • Break down projects into well-defined, phased milestones
  • Help identify gaps or risks in product requirements

 

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails (or a similar language) developing enterprise web applications
  • A love for shipping features that delight users and deep empathy for the customer experience
  • Experience in designing and building highly scalable web services and a game for anything attitude whether it’s diving into a legacy codebase or bootstrapping a new service 
  • Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL, especially the ability to design queries for performance
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to teammates and stakeholders, regardless of their experience or technical expertise
  • A track record of balancing predictable execution with producing well-tested, easy to reason about code
  • Experience with Vue/React or node.js and a willingness to traverse the full stack (preferred)
  • Experience with designing enterprise grade access management systems, data engineering or prompt engineering (preferred)

Position Overview

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Totango + Catalyst, you will help shape our infrastructure and build the foundation our team relies on for the rapid delivery of our product. We’ll depend on you to instill best practices for building scalable distributed systems, emphasizing development experience, observability and fault tolerance. Our current stack consists of technologies such as Ruby on Rails, RDS, Elasticsearch, Java, and Kubernetes, and we are moving towards microservices and serverless.  If you thrive in a growth-stage startup environment and are looking for more ownership and the ability to have a significant impact, we would love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage our AWS infrastructure, with an emphasis on configuration as code.
  • Keep our site and our services up and running, or get it back up and running quickly when a failure occurs
  • Improve monitoring and work with developers to improve performance and reliability
  • Participate in technical design reviews and architecture planning
  • Debugging complex problems across an entire stack and creating solid solutions
  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to evolve our delivery pipeline
  • Working closely with internal partners and teams to ensure that we ship software that meets security, SLA, performance, and budget requirements
  • Help build our on-call policies and runbooks

Position Overview

The Customer Success Manager role is an instrumental role in the long-term success of our business. You will be working with a variety of clients throughout their journey post-onboarding to ensure that they're obtaining full value from Catalyst aligned to their goals.

As a CSM at Catalyst, your contributions to helping us build a foundation for the CSM motion provides you with the opportunity to have a significant impact beyond the traditional scope of a CSM role.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Form close relationships with our customers, including CSMs, Managers, Directors & VPs. Partner with customers to establish a mutually agreed-upon Success Plan, outlining the challenges they’re looking to solve for using Catalyst
  • Define, prescribe & drive action aligned to the execution of each customer’s above Success Plan. Proactively identify and mitigate risk ensuring each customer’s ability to achieve their goals
  • Teach customers how to independently leverage product features aligned to current and new use cases, strengthening their knowledge & confidence in using the tool
  • Proactively pull, track, and analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to identify insights. Connect data to customer value and communicate a clear narrative that drives action back to your customers
  • Maintain routine monthly check-ins with customers, in addition to Quarterly Business Reviews
  • Partner internally with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Product, Engineering and Marketing. Convey the voice of the customer internally in an effort to inform other functions on how best we can support and add value to our customers
  • Consistently put forward product enhancement recommendations based on personal experience & on insights gained from customers 
  • Actively contribute to the analysis, planning and execution of CS processes to help us lay the foundation for the CSM function at Catalyst

 

What You’ll Need

  • Hands-on experience using the Catalyst platform to help drive value for your book of business
  • Demonstrated experience in a consultative customer-facing role, ideally having managed a book of business of high volume accounts for 3+ years
  • A demonstrated command of the customer success role and strategy where you were self-reliant, entrepreneurial, and creative in partnering with your portfolio to drive measurable value for them and your organization
  • Exceptional ability to be an agent of change - to influence & drive action through others, coupled with the ability to be a proficient listener
  • A strong commercial acumen, with experience identifying expansion opportunities and partnering with other teams to drive them to closure 
  • Eagerness to learn, with the ability to receive and implement feedback quickly
  • A bias towards action with the ability to think quickly on your feet and answer unexpected questions with ease
  • Discernible passion for Customer Success, and for creating memorable customer experiences

Salary information: The estimated base salary range for this position is $85,000 USD, and the on-target earnings for this position are $110,000 USD.
