Job Description

Every day brings a new challenge so you’ll need to be a team player at heart, with an eye for detail and great organisational skills so you can prioritise your day to ensure deadlines are met and timelines are adhered to.  Your primary responsibility will be to act as a day-to-day front office contact for your designated private equity, real estate, credit, or debt fund clients. You will be a part of a supportive team, own your tasks and proactively manage your deliverables and resolve any issues that may arise.

Due to new business, there is a unique opportunity for the right candidate, to work on a high profile client, who can demonstrate desirable knowledge on multi-currency fund structures reporting in Lux GAAP.

Responsibilities (how we will measure success)

  • Day to day responsibility for the management of designated Private Equity or Real Estate Clients
  • Review quarterly and annual financial statements and reports
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of accounting treatment for specific areas of NAV financing, such as sublines and derivatives
  • Review various calculations, including Management fees, Carry models and IRRs, ensuring clauses from legal documentation are understood and correctly applied
  • Work closely with your line Manager and Technical & Training Team to ensure financial statements meet the Funds’ reporting requirements, eg UK GAAP, Lux GAAP or IFRS
  • Review investor drawdown calculations to ensure accuracy of figures as Funds seek access to their commitments from investors
  • Review investor distribution calculations to ensure the flow of funds from the sale of an investment are accurately recorded so that proceeds are appropriately allocated and paid to investors
  • Ensure the accurate communication of all cash movements between the Fund and its Investors through the issuance of relevant notices to investors
  • Oversee the preparation and completion process of Client deliverables including agreeing timetables with Clients, and thereafter monitoring progress against these to ensure deliverables are on track
  • Conduct regular Client calls with CFO or Financial controller to ensure open and effective communication at all times.

Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)

  • Responsible for mentoring and supporting other staff as an expert on designated clients and funds
  • Gain a good understanding of the accounting framework for each designated client (as prescribed in the Fund’s legal documentation, the LPA) and ensure the movement of funds and transactions are treated in accordance with this framework
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes to either gain efficiencies or reduce risk.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Higher level education, IATI qualification or equivalent
  • ACCA/ ACA/CIMA qualified, Qualified by Experience or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a professional office environment.  Ideally working in financial services or accounting practice working on multiple client relationships
  • Ideally has experience reviewing working paper files and Financial Statements, including disclosures or alternatively can demonstrate strong accounting background through previous experience and CPD
  • Management of client relationships and experience with resolving issues directly with clients
  • Experience in supporting and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Intermediate Excel skills.

Job Description

The creation of Investor Solutions stems from many years of servicing Multi-Asset, fund of fund clients. Clients have been requesting solutions that provide full transparency on their portfolios, including fundamentally Private Equity Funds and equities & Bonds. Investors need to know the finer details of their total portfolios. They require to “drill down” into their underlying assets and sub-portfolios.

Investor solutions, in addition to providing Investment Accounting services to the Private Markets Fund of Fund clients, is leveraging the state-of-the-art technology (“Cosmos”) alongside the technical expertise in delivering dynamic and transparent reporting solutions to the community.

 

  • Monthly review and delivery of pre-agreed performance reporting for various clients’ portfolios
  • Review of various analytics (Total returns, IRR, Investment multiples, DPIs, Yield on Cost etc.) before releasing to the client
  • Comparison of performance against Benchmarks and providing analysis to the clients
  • Production of the CIO reporting based on pre-agreed formats
  • Data provision and review to third parties as per client requirements
  • Provision of ad-hoc analysis of performance/quantitative reporting
  • Implementation of change requests, including project work in new client onboardings
  • Participation in workshops and requirements gathering sessions with clients, documenting those relevant to performance reporting and taking action with the broader team on delivering these reports and dashboard visuals
  • Continuous review of the processes and procedures and taking initiatives to improve the control environment of the reports delivered to the clients and identifying ways to improve the efficiency of the department

Qualifications

  • University degree in a numerical discipline, Maths/Economics/Statistics (or similar)
  • Full or part-qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CFA/CAIA/CPA) or willingness to achieve is desirable.

Day to day

  • You will also assist in other ad hoc tasks to support fund managers and other client representatives in their activities. With your analytical mind you will interpret data, providing concise explanations on trends and variances and know how to resolve problems and issues that may arise
  • You will work closely with your line manager and the technical team to ensure financial  statements meet the Funds’ reporting requirements, e.g. IFRS or a local GAAP
  • You will typically deal with business as usual activities of a fund, but to spice up your day you will occasionally be involved in complex accountancy matters such as: equalisations, rebalances, bank interest swaps, hedging, loans etc. You will also be responsible for the annual audit process management, holding technical discussions with auditors when necessary
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are a must have for this role to build effective relationships across the business. You will also need to build strong customer relationships with existing and new clients gaining insight into their needs and delivering customer-centric solutions

You will be fully responsible for the Accounting & Tax operations of the client’s file from inception to completion, meaning as of the incorporation until the filing of the (audited) statutory annual accounts at the National Bank of Belgium and the corporate income tax return on Biztax. In this role, your main tasks will be;

  • Full bookkeeping of the client’s file in the accounting system Winbooks including AP, AR, Banking and Miscellaneous Operations under Belgian GAAP;
  • Preparation of the year-end entries once all required reconciliation on VAT, payroll, banking balances are completed; and
  • Conduction of the year-end audit with external auditors if required.
  • Preparation and submission of the periodical VAT return including Intracom and client listing;
  • Being single point of contact with the tax administration in case of VAT audit or information requests;
  • Calculation of the CIT provisions, preparation and filing of the CIT return;
  • Being single point of contact with the tax administration in case of CIT or information request;
  • Preparation and submission of applicable withholding tax forms; and
  • Completion of NBB surveys if needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Economics or Accountancy, ITTA membership is a plus
