We are looking an experienced Senior Java Developer to lead a development team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing demanding tasks of the projects but also overseeing the development and implementation of junior developers.

You will also be expected to analyze functional requirements and perform tasks breakdown to be assigned to the team.

To ensure success as a senior software developer, you should have in-depth knowledge of Java technologies and demonstrate team leading skills. Finally, you should have excellent communication skills because you will be needed to collaborate with the client and other development teams.

  • University Degree or equivalent.
  • 5 + years of Java development experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in Java Technologies (J2EE, Spring, XML Parsing, JDBC, Web Services).
  • Experience with Relational database (SQL Server) and ORM layers (Hibernate).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development and experience working on projects using Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Vaadin, and other related technologies. Will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Java applications using Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and Vaadin framework (version 14 and above)
  • Develop robust, scalable, and efficient web services using REST and SOAP protocols
  • Configure and deploy Java applications on JEE application servers such as Websphere, Weblogic, and JBoss
  • Design and implement database solutions using RDBMS, preferably DB2
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure high-quality code and adhere to coding standards
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure that the code is maintainable, scalable, and efficient
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in Java applications
  • Work closely with the QA team to ensure that the application meets the required quality standards

The selected candidate will be responsible for corrective and upgrade maintenance activities related to the bank’s Internet Banking (ΙΒ) application and specifically its integration with the Legacy Core Banking System. 

Following a knowledge transition period, the selected candidate is expected to undertake the maintenance of the said application, both in terms of supporting its production operation and undertaking new development related to new functionalities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake corrective maintenance and L2 support activities.
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle of upgrade maintenance projects.
  • Apply existing standards for programming, naming, security & performance and provide proper code documentation.
  • Write clean, scalable, performant code.
  • Test and deploy software components.
  • Revise, update, refactor and debug code.
  • Improve existing software.
  • Document new and existing implementations.
  • Act as technical consultant for the client.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a mainframe (z/OS) Application Developer.
  • Experience with PL/I, JCL and CICS web services.
  • Experience with DB2 on the IBM mainframe including SQL, stored procedures, as well as DB2 utilities on the mainframe.
  • Experience with high-volume batch processing.
  • Proven experience of banking implementations related to Internet Banking and / or Core Banking Systems.
  • Proven experience of supporting the production operation of a bank.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and challenging targets.
  • Analytical thinking with problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (both in Greek and English).
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Fulfilled military services obligations (if applicable).

 

It will be considered a plus: 

  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) as well as experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence tools.
