Senior Product Manager - Platform

PleoCopenhagen, London, Stockholm, Berlin, Madrid, Portugal, Remote- EU
SalesagilekotlinterraformDesignpythonAWSbackend

Pleo is hiring a Remote Senior Product Manager - Platform

Transparent, Insightful, Self-serve, and Reliable – that's how we want everyone in Pleo to feel about our data. So, that's all you have to optimise for in this role, sounds easy, right?

Our data platform team is on a mission to ensure data is embedded into every single thing we do for our customers and employees. Our team knows data is the lifeblood of our organisation. Ready to step boldly forward with us on this journey? Then you're in the right place.

But wait, you haven't heard of Pleo before? Really?

Who We Are

To get you off to a good start, let’s just say we’re saying goodbye to an outdated business process that’s been around forever – dreaded spend management.

We do this by helping customers delegate employee spending through a business spending platform. This means no more out-of-pocket spending, encouraging autonomy and trust in employees, and taking a huge burden off the finance team. You'll be building the SaaS tool (company spending solution) that comes with physical pre-paid cards (yes, with a fintech twist) distributed to all employees of the company. The best part? We're all users of Pleo ourselves, so it's a highly applicable tool. It impacts anyone in a company who spends money on behalf of the business – be it a coffee with clients or a Mac for a new hire.

Because we put the employee at the centre of all this, you'll find us to be user-obsessed (don’t take our word for it – check out our Trustpilot page: Trustpilot Pleo Reviews). We place ourselves in the user's position every day and try to minimise the major pains they feel.

To do all of this, we believe data should be available for everyone to:

  • Gain Insights About Customers: We aim for data transparency to enable team members to obtain comprehensive insights into customer behaviours, preferences, and needs. This information helps us tailor our services and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Enhance Day-to-Day Operations: Reliable data should be accessible to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of daily operations. This includes streamlining processes, identifying areas for improvement, and making informed decisions that benefit the overall workflow.
  • Build Customer Features: Data-driven insights are essential for developing and refining features that meet customer demands. By leveraging accurate and timely data, we can innovate and deliver functionalities that enhance user experience and value.
  • Ensure Data Security and Compliance: It's vital for everyone to trust that the data they use and generate is handled securely and in compliance with relevant regulations. This means implementing robust data protection measures to safeguard sensitive information and maintain trust.

We are on one hell of a journey – our growth and pace of change will either terrify or delight you. We’re looking for someone inspired and energised by this type of challenge. Someone longing to be part of a journey like ours.

What Does This Role Entail?

You will be leading a data platform team at the core of Pleo. You will own the exploration of new functionality and, together with the team, drive the day-to-day delivery. In this role, you can expect to:

  • Regularly meet with internal customers across our organisation to understand their problems and needs.
  • Set product strategy and vision in collaboration with your team and senior leaders.
  • Define KPIs for the team and success metrics for features to validate impact.
  • Identify opportunities and design solutions to validate ideas and gain learnings to inform future development.
  • Assist in managing the third-party providers we use.
  • Continuously work with your Engineering Manager counterpart to improve team productivity.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to facilitate and deliver projects with the team alongside engineering, data analytics, data & analytics engineering, product and operations teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of platform features.
  • Scope and deliver on initiatives that help support scaling the platform architecture and enablement in the organisation.
  • Manage Platform roadmap, leading the integration of emerging technologies and taking responsibility for delivery, resource allocation and Agile best practices.

Is There More Cool Stuff?

Absolutely! In this role, you will be part of a team of 12 talented analytics and data engineers. The team is distributed across Europe.

You’ll Thrive in This Role If You:

  • Have experience leading platform enablement teams from a technical and product perspective.
  • Have hands-on backend engineering experience in at least one server-side language (Python or Kotlin preferred)
  • Are comfortable navigating cloud services such as those hosted by AWS or GCP and supporting Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Are comfortable taking ownership of technical delivery, owning technical projects from start to finish alongside a technical team
  • Have shaped up best practices for developer experience, cyber security and compliance
  • Have experience in Agile methodologies coaching and best practices
  • Have relentless focus on getting results and a strong entrepreneurial drive.
  • Are a strong communicator and storyteller who can bring clarity and inspire.
  • Are a people person who wants to have fun at work and likes developing co-workers by creating a culture of inclusivity where authenticity is valued and celebrated.
  • Love when things just click and the team is shipping.

Join us on this exciting journey!

Working at Pleo means you're working on something very exciting: the future of work. Our mission is to help every company go beyond the books. Pleo itself means ‘more than you’d expect’, and it’s been the secret to our success over the last 8 years. So it’s only fitting that we’d pass this philosophy onto our customers to help them make the most of their finances.

We think company spending should be delegated to all employees and teams, that it should be as automated as possible, and that it should drive a culture of responsible spending. Finance teams shouldn’t be siloed from the rest of the organisation – they should work in unity with marketing, sales, IT and everyone else.

Speaking of working in unity, our values tell the story of how we work at Pleo. We have four core values, the first of which is ‘champion the customer’, which means we address real pain points that businesses face. Next up is ‘succeed as a team’, which highlights how our strength lies in our diversity and trust in each other. We also ‘make it happen’ by taking bold decisions and following through to deliver results. Last but not least, we ‘build to scale’, creating lasting solutions that address today’s challenges and anticipate tomorrow’s needs.

So, in a nutshell, that's Pleo. Today we are a 850+ team, from over 100 nations, sitting in our Copenhagen HQ, London, Stockholm, Berlin, Madrid, Montreal and Lisbon offices —and quite a few full-time remotes in 35 other countries! Being HQ'd out of Copenhagen means we're inspired by things like a good work-life balance. If you don't work in the office with us, we'll help you set up the best remote setup possible and make sure you still have time to connect with your team.

Engineering Director - Developer Platform

PleoCopenhagen, Berlin, Madrid, Stockholm, London, Montreal, Lisbon, Remote
SalesterraformDesignAWSbackend

Pleo is hiring a Remote Engineering Director - Developer Platform

We are looking for our next Engineering Director to join our Platform Domain, specifically within a group of teams called the Developer Platform Group. This consists of Security, Developer Experience, SRE, and Backend Core teams. You’ll work closely with these teams and cross-team collaboration is encouraged. This gives you a wonderful opportunity to continue to grow in your role and both widen and deepen your skills.

In this role, you will work with our core infrastructure, everything from how our cloud providers (AWS and GCP) are configured through Terraform to how our microservices are deployed to Kubernetes.

You’re responsible for delivery and outcomes across multiple engineering teams. You foster the environment in which engineers perform at their best and grow both as individuals and as a team. You do so by making sure each team member is clear on what we expect and how they can grow, by making sure our processes are helping rather than standing in the way, and by working with all engineers ensuring we are building high-quality software.

Your leadership style:

  • We always say that we hire anyone who we would want to be our boss, irrespective of the role they’re in (from Customer Support student workers to co-founders!). That should be the feeling we’re left with when any of us speak to you.
  • We are looking for someone who cares deeply about individuals as human beings - we focus on authentic leadership and are actively trying to develop ourselves in this space.
  • We hope that you will be able to show vulnerability, radical transparency, and a listening ear to those around you.
  • We truly believe that with this type of style you and your team will set an incredible path forward - and that path will get us to incredible places. We want an engineering manager whose team will be standing on the top of the mountain with them - celebrating together and not left behind exhausted on the path below.
  • We want you to help your team(s) through the journey of becoming high-performing, building trust among the members in the team, and helping them fine-tune their processes.

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a passion for people management. You work to see your team and individuals growing and shipping great software
  • You like to work with cross-functional teams and other stakeholders to align engineering functions with product & business direction and goals. You think like a technologist in the core and optimise for both customers and the business.
  • Enjoy design and optimisation of teams and processes to maximise their efficiency. You are comfortable stepping into technical discussions or taking important stakeholder meetings to remove roadblocks allowing the team to move forward.
  • You are a strong communicator, with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
  • You’re a technologist at heart. We work in cross-functional teams in product and engineering: each team is made up of co-founders from product and engineering - and joined by designers, coders, and maybe even some people from commercial.

What this Role entails:

  • Work closely with the engineers in the SRE team offering support and guidance.
  • Ensure that the SRE team remains a high performing team and explore ways to improve and help the team excel
  • Be the Developer Group Platforms Leads right hand in the domain and also take on one manager as a direct report
  • Be the SRE teams representation within the Senior Engineering leadership group, contributing to Pleo’s overall Engineering success
  • Drive a customer-centric & solution-oriented mindset.
  • Continuously improve the environment and processes for how we build our product.
  • Align technology direction within your area, with other areas as well as with the overall technology direction of the company.
  • Represent engineering in key initiatives and projects within the department or across the company and ensure they get delivered.
  • Design the organization, and objectives and hold a high standard in people, delivery, and technology.

Show me the benefits!

  • Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending!)
  • Lunch is on us - with catering in our Lisbon, Copenhagen, and London offices or a monthly lunch allowance paid directly together with  your salary in other markets ????
  • Private health insurance to ensure you’re fit in body and mind to do your best work
  • We offer 25 days of holiday + your public holidays
  • Flexibility/remote working options
  • Wellbeing days - fully paid days off designed for a slower pace, allowing you to take time to recharge and prioritise self-care
  • Option to purchase 5 additional days of holiday through a salary sacrifice
  • We’re trialling MyndUp to give our employees access to free mental health and wellbeing support with great success so far  ❤️‍????

DevSecOps Engineer

PleoCopenhagen , London , Berlin , Montreal , Stockholm , Madrid , Remote

Pleo is hiring a Remote DevSecOps Engineer

Here at Pleo, our customer base is growing with Sonic.gif speed! This is amazing yet the larger we become, the bigger the temptation for the less lawful sides of society. As a FinTech, we directly handle money for our customers and see the most incidents across all industries. We’re not only about protecting users from password leaks where malicious actors post cat videos to your SoMe account, this is about protecting our customers' money and data. This is where you come in!

The DevSecOps role focuses on the pipeline tooling and infrastructure/cloud hardening side of security. We strive to shift left work on hardening our application and ensuring we build golden paths. We're looking for someone to be part of improving this specialization and bring opinionated insight.

To give you a better idea, here are some tasks you might do as a DevSecOps Engineer at Pleo.

Help our engineering teams build secure solutions by automating guardrails throughout our entire pipeline. You’ll put in place Infrastructure as Code security policies to improve auto-remediation for issues and only when required to help developers on remediation;

  • Assist the team with diving into various security subjects related to hardening our Kubernetes & AWS infrastructure at Pleo. Then design, implement and give your recommendation on actions;
  • Working with our Platform team to create automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) around security checks;
  • Be a core contributor in projects related to security automation.

To make it clear, we're not building a security team to take over all security-related tasks. We're building a team of specialists that support other teams through platform building, investigations, and coaching.

There will be a lot of flexibility in this role depending on your interests and skills, but as an Engineering role you will:

  • Help operationalize, rank, and manage our pipeline security roadmap.
  • Take part in the planning and focus on the execution of projects related to our security objectives.
  • Balance controls implementation against our data classifications while providing tactful friction to meet the needs of the company.

We don’t expect a perfect match in technology and skills. What's important is that you have a passion for the field, you are willing to expand your knowledge, and that you enjoy the responsibilities that come along with the role.

If this philosophy resonates with you, we'd love to meet you, so click apply!

Your profile

  • You recognize that communication is a core part of your job as a security engineer at Pleo.
  • You are eager to discuss complicated cloud security topics with technical colleagues.
  • You are pragmatic in your approach to security. A door that no one can unlock is very secure, but it's also no longer a door.
  • Security isn't black magic, it's a matter of understanding complex systems and applying creative thinking to interesting problems.
  • You love learning new things and enjoy working with problem areas you aren't an expert in (yet).
  • You are honest and unafraid to state things exactly like they are acknowledging and communicating what's broken is the first step to fixing things.

The nitty-gritty skills

  • You are comfortable with at least one programming language (Python, TypeScript, Kotlin, Golang) and have foundations with application development.
  • Experience with fully automating CI/CD pipelines security checks end-to-end, from code commits to production;
  • Solid experience in hardening, configuring and troubleshooting Kubernetes and AWS environments;
  • Cloud Service Knowledge. You understand how to secure all the "meshy" things from sidecars, microservices to service mesh, and you are familiar with the cloud shared responsibility model. You're comfortable balancing the tradeoff considerations with regard to cost, security, and deployment complexity.

Nice to have skills

  • Java or Kotlin proficiency and experience with securing applications running on JVM.
  • Experience with PCI DSS, GDPR, or PSD2 technical requirements such as proper network segmentation and authorization mechanism.

Non-requirements

We don't really care about certificates, degrees, and all that jazz. However, we won't penalize you for talking about your super relevant degree in information security or showing off your brand-new certificate. We also don't need you to have x years of experience in information security, but would of course love for you to tell us about any experience that you think is relevant for the job.

Your colleagues say that you

  • Have an aversion to human in the loop processes
  • Could easily be a hacker in your free time
  • Never forget to lock your laptop
  • Dropped an unattended USB-drive and waited for someone to plug it in and inadvertently realize they have a new keyboard that had specific ideas in mind..

Show me the benefits

  • Your own Pleo card (no more out-of-pocket spending!)
  • Lunch is on us - with catering in our Lisbon, Copenhagen and London offices or a monthly lunch allowance paid directly together with  your salary in other markets ????
  • Private health insurance to ensure you’re fit in body and mind to do your best work
  • Option to purchase 5 additional days of holiday through a salary sacrifice
  • Wellbeing days - fully paid days off designed for a slower pace, allowing you to take time to recharge and prioritise self-care
  • We’re trialling MyndUp to give our employees access to free mental health and wellbeing support with great success so far  ❤️‍????

Senior Software Engineer - Demo Experience

PleoChennai, Bengaluru, India- Remote
Salesagileremote-firstslackscrumapigitpostgresqlNode.js

Pleo is hiring a Remote Senior Software Engineer - Demo Experience

Let’s face it: out-of-pocket expenses suck. And manual expense spreadsheets are old-school.

No one wants to wait until payday to be reimbursed for something they bought for work, and finance teams have better things to do than spend hours tapping away on Excel. At Pleo, we’re on a mission to change this. We’re here to make spend management surprisingly effective and empowering – for finance teams and employees.

We’re doing away with an outdated business process to end out-of-pocket spending, encourage autonomy and give finance teams trust in employees. You'll be selling the SaaS tool (company spending solution) that comes with physical prepaid cards that are then distributed to all employees of the company. But Pleo’s about more than just paying for stuff. You’ll be helping our customers simplify and streamline their invoices, reimbursements, subscriptions – the lot.

Pleo is looking for someone to join our newly established Demo Experience Team. More on that right below, but for the right candidate, we are open to applications in India.

Please be aware we are unable to relocate for this role and we will not offer a visa sponsorship.

About the role ????

As part of our software engineering and product development department, we have established a team called Demo Experience. This team focuses on optimising processes, data, and tools for our in-house demo/sandbox accounts generation and management. This serves multiple internal & external customers (Sales, External Partnerships, Product Development and testing).

Your role in this team will be to help us architect and implement new tools to support this. Think of it as this - we need to make sure our various teams can generate & manage test, demo, and sandbox accounts as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We achieve this through designing and maintaining the tech stack, extensions, and related processes. We are very important enablers to many of our internal departments and external partners, and always aim to push our tools above and beyond.

In Pleo, the Demo Experience team has enormous potential and opportunities to make a big impact on the business bottom-line : by improving our sales demo experience and increasing our sales conversion rate, making our product development process easier, or enabling our external partners to integrate by becoming a solid API ecosystem player. Hence this is a unique opportunity to learn more about the many different aspects of running a business, the decision processes and prioritisation needed to execute strategic projects, and insights into where the company is going - almost like a front-row seat!

In this role, you will be responsible for coding outside-of-the-box initiatives and special projects aimed at driving efficiency across our commercial, product and partnerships teams. Your work will directly impact the future of how our commercial teams are able to sell to our customers, how our product teams will test their latest & greatest features, by focusing on high-impact, high-coverage solutions.

More about our team ????

So if you are excited about inter-department collaborations, being part of diverse teams, scaling a company 10x while also having fun in random slack channels, getting creative and running all kinds of experiments while also staying up-to-date on the latest trends in tech, new frameworks and practices, if you like engaging in social activities from Pleo dinners to teaching non-tech people how to code, keep reading. But also remember, while bringing your perspective and diversity, you must also leave your ego by the door.

We believe in autonomy, trust, and support, shaping our teams with a remote-first mindset and being able to work efficiently through the CEST time zones. From virtual coffees, to remote-friendly meeting setups, and thorough documentation, you can feel the beat and energy that flows in our offices.

You will be contributing to setting the strategic direction with data-driven decision-making, working with the latest (and greatest!) tools and tech, and improving yourself and others through a dynamic and passionate team working environment.

What you can expect in the role ????

  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to drive efficiency across multiple departments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement in demo, sandbox and test accounts experience.
  • Utilise first-principle thinking to challenge conventional approaches and drive innovation.
  • Continuously learn about commercial and business knowledge and apply it to engineering work.
  • Contribute to the execution, delivery, and quality of projects within the team.
  • Build automated engines to deliver rich and relatable data to accurately represent our entire product offering.

The nitty-gritty skills needed ????

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a software developer, with a focus on Java/Kotlin
  • Proficiency with AWS.
  • Experience or willingness to work with Node.js and React
  • Solid understanding of API integration methodologies, Webhooks, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and code collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering high-quality results within deadlines.
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g. PostgreSQL) and server-side development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
