About the opportunity

Gusto is at a meaningful inflection point in our scale. We are launching a native mobile app experience for small business owners, and scaling a platform that other teams will use to solve small business problems.

As the Senior Staff Product Designer, Mobile Core you will play a critical leadership role in the strategy and execution of our mobile vision for small business owners. You will collaborate with internal teams and serve a cross-organizational leader to streamline and simplify our mobile offering in coordination with Gusto web. As a member of the Core Experiences leadership team, you will be a key partner in setting the long-term vision and strategic planning of our mobile offering; from replicating existing experiences to launching new workflows and experiences.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Design the iOS and Android user experiences for our small business owners and bring industry knowledge to the team.
  • Work with cross-functional partners in Product Management, Engineering, and Data Science to understand customer problems, key opportunities in the mobile domain, and define both the long term UX vision and also short term release.
  • Manage the tradeoffs between quick wins, (i.e. mobile web views vs native features) as you build iteratively toward a stand-alone mobile solution.
  • Develop and build upon a mobile design language that operates in concert with our Gusto web experiences.
  • Collaborate with other designers on the Core Experiences team to understand how parallel workflows translate to our mobile experiences, and understand where they must differ.
  • Drive company-wide impact through strengthening our teams’ collective understanding of designing mobile experiences.
  • Collaborate with our Research, Data Science, and Customer Support teams to build a holistic understanding of customer needs, and make sure they’re shared with your teams to inform their thinking, build empathy, and inform prioritization decisions.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of product design experience, ideally with at least 3+ years of mobile design, ideally in the past 5 years.
  • Comfortable with complexity: You’ve led the design of approachable, guided mobile experiences in complex domains that solved a suite of problems for customers.
  • Product acumen: This role will contribute directly to business and product strategy. You should be comfortable working with executive stakeholders, and be able to demonstrate how you’ve shaped business decisions.
  • Technical acumen: This role will require a deep understanding of our technical systems and how those translate to business outcomes. You’ll work directly with your engineering partners to improve the systems that power our customer experiences. You should understand the nuances between web and native mobile design and be comfortable switching between the two.
  • High quality bar: This role will be a tireless advocate for our customers’ mobile experience with Gusto. You should be able to demonstrate how you’ve maintained design quality and accessibility across screen sizes, while shipping iteratively to deliver customer value early and often.
  • Strong interaction designer: This role will require a deep understanding of mobile-first design and common mobile interaction patterns.
  • Influential and patient: Gusto is on a journey to becoming a mobile first company. This role will need to lead through influence and help educate and  advocate about the employer’s mobile experience.
  • Accessibility minded: This role will proactively design with accessibility in mind, collaborating with engineering partners to advocate for inclusive design experiences, such as the importance of VoiceOver and color contrast as important mobile considerations.
  • Comfortable with defining and re-designing the information architecture of a mobile application
  • Bonus: Have experience creating a mobile design system in concert with an existing web-first design system

Our cash compensation range for this role is $174,000/yr - $235,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $204,000/yr - $254,000/yr San Francisco, Seattle & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Each year, diabetes, obesity, and other cardiometabolic diseases cause the highest incidence of death, disability, and healthcare system costs. At Glooko, we make it simpler for people with these illnesses to connect with their physicians and care teams.  Glooko is the universal platform for providing an FDA-cleared, HIPAA-compliant, EU MDR-certified Web and Mobile (iOS and Android) application for people with clinicians who treat them.

Glooko accelerates research and improves care by making it simpler for people to collect and share their health data with physicians and researchers. The platform seamlessly unifies and visualizes data from over 210 devices, including blood glucose meters, insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, activity trackers, and biometric devices.  Connecting to these devices allows Glooko to deliver insights that improve personal and clinical decision support. Patients and providers have one place to view their health management information, including medications, food intake, exercise, and biometrics.  The platform makes it easier for physicians to monitor and deliver more personalized care remotely.

Glooko’s mobile app and web dashboard enable patients to track and proactively manage their diabetes care easily. Glooko’s Population Tracker and APIs offer diabetes-centric analytics and insightful reports that enable clinicians to identify at-risk patients. Clinicians can send pattern-triggered notifications to patients, health systems, and payers.

Our proprietary platforms enable clinical trial conduct and acceleration by leveraging advanced patient selection and site identification tools as well as remote device and e-PRO data collection capabilities.  This platform's capabilities support the rapid development and iteration of digital companion and therapeutic applications.

Launched in 2010, Glooko is funded and managed by visionary technologists and leaders in healthcare.
