Overview:

The Observability Platform team is building a state of the art system for logging, motoring, and tracing across cloud and on-prem data centers. We’re looking for an experienced Senior DevOps engineer to lead our Logging and Monitoring, ensuring robust, scalable solutions within our Google Cloud Platform. In this role, you will be helping to bring systems to life that give superpowers to an entire organization of software developers.

You will:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and manage our observability infrastructure, which processes trillions of observability events (logs, traces, metrics) daily.
  • Create and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems utilizing various technologies such as GrafanaLab, CaptainHook, Zabbix, fluentd, filebeat, ELK, Kafka, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and other related tools.
  • Design and develop parts of a highly scalable software observability platform which manages trillions of observability events (logs, traces, metrics) per day.
  • Develop and maintain Kubernetes Helm charts that deploy hundreds of pods across nodes every day.
  • Collaborate closely with DevOps teams in delivering cloud solutions aligned with our observability platform.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of observability platforms and tools.
  • Design and develop end-to-end Synthetic Tests Monitoring solutions on GCP. with self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
  • Participate in on-call rotations.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related work experience.
  • 5+ years as DevOps Engineer (or equal role) with a passion for technology and strong motivation and responsibility for high reliability and service level
  • Proficient in Kubernetes and containerization technologies (Docker, etc.)
  • Extensive experience with observability tools such as GrafanaLab, CaptainHook, Zabbix, Fluentd, ELK, Kafka, and Prometheus.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services related to computing, storage, and networking - preferred GCP.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages (Bash, Python, Go, etc.).
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with OpenTelemetry Collector and Grafana Agent.

  • Respond to system outages and performance issues, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence
  • Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks, such as deployment, scaling, and monitoring
  • Work closely with development teams, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure that new services and features are reliable and scalable
  • Work on reducing latency and improving the speed of data transmission across the network
  • Define and measure Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to ensure services meet required performance and availability targets+
  • Conduct postmortems after incidents to identify what went wrong and what can be improved
  • Work with Lead Application owners and internal Change Management to review code changes and support deployments
  • Lead the team of site reliability engineers onshore/offshore, mentor them for support activities required for system reliability
  • Must have ability to communicate and abstract the messaging to multiple target audiences including Sr business & IT leadership, technology, and business teams.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, telecommunications, or similar areas, with a minimum of 10 years software engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years as a site reliability engineer
  • Proven track record of managing mission critical customer facing applications for reliability
  • 5+ years of experience supporting operations and maintenance for cloud-native applications in production that are fault-tolerant, self-healing, scalable and high available
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail to identify and resolve complex production issues
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid experience with core Kubernetes concepts such as Pods, Workloads, Services, Ingress/Egress, Deployments, ConfigMaps, HPA, Liveliness Probe, and Secrets
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong experience working with integration of code quality tool (SonarQube or Checkmarx) with CI/CD pipeline
  • Strong experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools like, Splunk, GCP log, Dynatrace etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Must have proven written and verbal communication skills, including presentations using tools like PowerPoint
  • Must have ability to communicate and abstract the messaging to multiple target audiences including Sr business & IT leadership, technology and business teams

What you'll do as a Application Performance and Security Solutions Engineer

You will work with our clients to understand their business needs and understand their current applications landscape with the goal of helping them develop a security posture that meets their requirements while also keeping their applications and assets safe according to the most recent standards in cyber security, with high levels of reliability and performance.

You will work closely with our Account Executives (AEs); generalist SEs, as well as every other team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. 

 

Responsibilities

You serve as a trusted advisor to our customers; helping them find the best solution for their business needs with Cloudflare.

  • Guide qualified prospects through the Solution Design and Proof of Concept stages of sales engagements; showing them the key capabilities of the Cloudflare One portfolio
  • Work with your Sales Partners to consistently achieve Pipeline and Revenue goals
  • Understand our customers IT landscape and security requirements and develop an architecture for our customers to support their business needs
  • Articulate the benefits of the Cloudflare application performance and security product portfolio vs competing solutions
  • Promote retention by capturing and communicating gaps in product or features
  • Collaborate and coordinate with account sales/pre-sales teams on opportunities and liaise with product management and support through the deal cycle.

 

Skill Requirements

  • 3+ years of prior Technical Sales, Systems Engineering, or related experience
  • Experience interacting with senior level/executives to communicate a message of network and security transformation
  • Familiar with trends and attacks in cyber security (e.g. DDOS, SQL Injection, Cross Site Scripting, etc)
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud based architectures (e.g AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Detailed understanding of workflow from user to application including hybrid architectures with Azure, AWS, GCP.
  • Knowledge of the common web application frameworks and practices (JAMstack, Micro-services, GraphQL, event-driven architecture…)
  • Knowledge of one or more common web frameworks (Django, Ruby on Rails, Laravel, Angular, React…)
  • Experience with web performance testing and optimization such as RUM, Synthetic testing and deep understanding of the protocol stack (DNS, TCP, HTTP, SSL…)
  • Experience with Application, Security, Performance and Reliability products such as WAF, Bot Management, DDOS, Firewall, DNS and CDN.
  • Experience with sophisticated Botting technologies and technics (e.g Residential proxies, Headless browsers, fingerprinting rotation, click-farms)
  • Fundamental understanding of customer network and application architectures. 
  • Experience with JavaScript, Restful APIs, JSON,  and code versioning solutions (e.g. Git, Gitlab, Bbitbucket) and scripting languages
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Fundamental understanding of the networking concepts (e.g BGP, TCP, Anycast, IP)
  • Stay up to date not only with Cloudflare’s specific products, but with industry trends.
  • Ability to jump in with hands-on configuration when needed

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Evangelize Dynatrace’s product offerings during international trade shows and at key customer account meetings to promote new and expanded business.
  • Partner with sales representatives to identify new sales opportunities as well as incremental sales opportunities within existing accounts.
  • As part of the solution engineering team participate in proof of concept (PoC) creation and cloud architecture discussions, leading the technical solution evaluation portion in support of sales opportunities either directly or through channel partners for multiple POCs.
  • Present Dynatrace’s vision to our customers C-suite executives.
  • Provide technical guidance in the Discovery, Solution Evaluation, and Solution Proposal stages of the opportunity sales cycle.
  • Present on-stage demonstrations providing insight and context to our customers during key marketing events. Either at Dynatrace sponsored industry events or partner sponsored events, ensure key demonstrations are delivered by you or a team member at demonstration booths.
  • Gather, qualify and provide feedback from customers to Product Management to improve Dynatrace’s market share and meet the market needs.
  • Build best practices and share knowledge the team to continuously develop and enhance both your personal and team capabilities.
  • Work with local Sales and Sales Engineering leadership to identify learning/ development opportunities for you and the local team to maintain Dynatrace’s leadership position in the market.
  • Create and modify Dynatrace template presentations, in order to attend the specific demands of each customer
  • Not only work with internal sales team, but also with partners, supporting their team in the customers and being a technical point of contact for them (trusted advisor/technical coach).

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education or experience required.
  • 3+  years of experience within the observability space.

Cruise’s Network Access Engineering team is seeking a Staff Network Security Engineer to help us architect, build and operate secure, scalable access networks across our growing global footprint of facilities. 

You will be essential for ensuring Cruise’s network designs are secure and that we’ve an effective, consolidated network automation strategy encompassing observability, device lifecycle management, security policy and vulnerability remediation.

You are a network security SME with strong, influential opinions on networking and network access security, ensuring Cruise's network architectures have security baked-in as a basis of their designs. 

Your scope includes (but not limited to): Identity management, access-layer network controls, policy management & enforcement, remote client VPN system strategy & architecture, endpoint vulnerability identification & remediation, and edge access policy dissemination.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Create and maintain standards-based network designs for Cruise’s access network infrastructure

  • Shape a convergence strategy for our current mix of Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet and Aruba network equipment that exist across disparate network teams

  • Create, manage, and maintain access network infrastructure documentation

  • Identify, build and mature common access network workflows and design

  • Help build, maintain, and automate Cruise’s global network, focusing on secure authentication and authorization mechanisms

  • Own the remediation of security vulnerabilities, including implementing network access controls through systems like Cisco ISE and/or FreeRADIUS

  • Design and implement robust network security policies and procedures through centralized management and automation of network devices

  • Participate in an on-call rotation
     

What you must have:

  • Experience running and guiding network operations and observability initiatives

  • Senior resource in a network operations team supporting Cisco, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet and Aruba platforms

  • Experience deploying and operating wired Ethernet & WiFi wireless access networks and their policies

  • Expertise in managing and utilizing network monitoring systems and leveraging them for automation

  • Expert knowledge of network security best-practices and design patterns

  • Demonstrated hands-on network design and operations experience

  • Hands-on knowledge and troubleshooting experience of L2 and L3 networking and routing protocols (802.11x, STP, IPv4, IS-IS, BGP, etc.)

  • Expert level knowledge of edge firewall technologies, remote VPN solutions, and SASE & SD-WAN architectures

  • Experience with automation platforms/technologies such as: Terraform, GitHub, Python and Ansible
