This is an engagement through Upwork’s Hybrid Workforce Solutions (HWS) Team. Our Hybrid Workforce Solutions Team is a global group of professionals that support Upwork’s business. Our HWS team members are located all over the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, build, maintain and improve search systems and AI/ML services that scale with the growing demands of our applications and state of the art search capabilities 
  • Collaborate with frontend and backend teams to design and implement API that align with business requirements and optimize backend processes to enable low-latency and high-reliability retrieval and ranking needs
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and drive enhancements to boost API performance and functionality.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for our services ensuring transparency and knowledge sharing with the team.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in software development and AI and evaluate their potential impact on our projects.

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • Strong Industry experience with large scale production grade systems as a software engineer and Indexing experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch or Apache Solr
  • Strong  experience in Java programming with a record of delivering robust and high-quality code with unit tests 
  • Solid understanding of API Design Principles and CI/CD 
  • Exposure to machine learning concepts and workflows with an understanding of how services support machine learning models
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and globally distributed teams and adapt to evolving project requirements.

What you’ll do:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and building out new API integrations to support increasing data volume and complexity. 
  • Collaborating with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, enhancing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision-making across the organization. 
  • Implementing processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Willing and able to be onsite in Reston, VA at least 3 days/week
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience; 4-6 years of additional experience in lieu of degree 
  • Proficiency in Data Warehousing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Processes, SQL and NoSQL Databases, Data Modeling, Data Integration, and Data Quality Assurance. 
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python and C# is required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills are also necessary. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks (using PySpark) and Azure SQL Database.

We are looking for a talented software engineer that is focused and fascinated by the real time movement of price and value at wire speed across a global liquidity network of buyers and sellers.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceive, assemble, and deliver the financial platform that meets the OTC team’s functional and business requirements for our global broker/dealer platform
  • Build out our global liquidity network at scale across the key financial centers world wide
  • Cultivate best practices and collaborate with engineering teams structuring applications
  • Realize and promote the domain model and architecture for our broker/dealer platform

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on management of all security solutions across the organization: SIEM, DLP, E/XDR, vulnerability management, security awareness.
  • Monitor security alerts, respond to incidents, and manage escalations.
  • Participate in Incident Response on-call rotation.
  • Conduct threat analysis, vulnerability assessments, and risk evaluations.

Requiredments

  • Experience working in healthcare or other highly regulated industries is preferred.

About the Role:  

As a Pre-Sales Working Student, you will work closely with our APJ (Asia Pacific Japan) Sales Engineering team. This team supports all ongoing Sales processes with knowledge and experience in geodata management and processing, understanding customer-specific technologies involving Planet´s suite of products and helps both the customer and our Sales team as trusted advisors.

This is a part-time, temporary position working up to 20 hours per week. This is a remote position based in APJ.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Work with the sales engineers to understand what is required by the customer to address their unmet need or problem
  • Prepare geospatial data from both the customer and internal Planet requests for further use in the sales process
  • Search for compelling data examples in Planet´s image archives, to assist customers and convincing them to use such in their daily work
  • Conduct literature and press research for finding most suitable demonstration use-cases for Planet data
  • Provide detailed research reports to the APJ Pre-Sales team

What You Bring:

  • Experience taking on new challenges and approaching them with a positive attitude
  • Current student enrolled in a full-time program at a university
  • A passion for geodata in ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Able to work in APJ time zones and work remotely
  • Knowledge in GIS, coordinate reference systems, digital image processing
  • Understanding of distributed systems, cloud platform, API and software tools
  • Fluent in English

Qualifications

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled .NET Developer with intermediate-level experience in C# development and a solid understanding of the Azure ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Service Fabric, .NET platform, and DevOps tools, including Azure DevOps (ADO) and pipelines. In addition, a strong ability to work independently on a large and complex codebase is essential.

Roles and Responsibilities:
