ABOUT THE JOB

You will be helping us build, design, and architect awesome and new capabilities on our iPaas and APIM Platform. We are looking for a senior backend engineer. You will be working with Java, Nginx, Tomcat, Kafka, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, Redis, MySQL, Linux, C++, Apache, Docker, and Kubernetes; to name a few of the technologies we use on the platform.

You will have full lifecycle responsibilities to create robust, scalable, and distributed systems that operate flawlessly 24x7x365. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly innovative environment with new technologies as we continue to extend our market leading position.

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Experience in Java
  • Substantial experience with top tier RDBMS such as SQL Server and MySQL
  • Excellent JavaScript, CSS and HTML authoring skills.
  • Proficiency with Javascript, TypeScript, Java Node.js, or Go.
  • Familiar with application deployment via Docker and/or Kubernetes.

As a key member of the Fulfillment and Pharmacy Engineering Backend team, you will define, build, test, deploy, and support our self-service platform for Fulfillment Operations and Pharmacy teams.

You Will:

  • Design and build backend services that power our telehealth and ecommerce platforms
  • Collaborate with product managers, principal engineers and your team to guide decisions
  • Provide leadership and guidance to internal team members on the implementation of architecture and designs
  • Collaborate, lead and deliver cross-domain integration solutions with techniques such as REST and asynchronous design patterns
  • Own feature delivery from solution design to production operation
  • Implement observability, monitoring and alerting solutions

The Role

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer and these are the main qualities you should ideally possess if you want to be part of the team:

  • Promote Continuous Improvement by identifying process efficiencies and quality improvements
  • Provide guidance to and mentor more junior team members
  • Being able to share product insight with stakeholders and challenge product decisions
  • Comfortable working within a cross functional team, collaborative environment, ability to partake in and contribute to technical, design and retrospective dialog
  • Comfortable working with both strongly and dynamically typed languages, we believe you can bring valuable insights and perspectives to the team, even if Python is not your primary language. We care more about your overall programming skills and approach to problem-solving!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being able to create and design modular, scalable, testable, tested, performant systems which interface via well defined endpoints using software engineering best practices
  • Being able to identify root cause of system issues and determine short and long term resolutions
  • Adaptability and flexibility, we are building new and novel products and believe that we can provide our users the best products by shipping fast and getting feedback to improve on later iterations
  • Able to work and intervene on the whole life cycle of the software

Hims & Hers is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Pharmacyto build and maintain the platform that reliably fulfills customer orders and prescriptions at scale. As a key member of the Fulfillment and Pharmacy Engineering Backend team, you will define, build, test, deploy, and support our self-service platform for Fulfillment Operations and Pharmacy teams.

You Will:

  • Build backend services within our service-oriented architecture
  • Participate in team design sessions
  • Develop high quality solutions that meet expectations described in requirements and design documents
  • Implement observability, monitoring and alerting solutions
  • Contribute to operational excellence through on-call responsibilities which include issue resolution and code improvements
  • Team collaboration and communication, including daily stand ups, code reviews, and cross domain interactions with product management and pharmacy/operations personnel
  • Actively participate in retrospectives and contribute ideas that help drive continuous improvement in our architecture, agile process and team culture

You Have:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years experience as a software engineer including languages such as Java and Kotlin
  • 1+ years of experience with back end distributed system design, development and delivery, preferably in an eCommerce environment
  • 1+ years of experience with service oriented architectures
  • Experience hosting services with Kubernetes and AWS
  • Experience with agile software development and delivery methodologies 
  • Experience with continuous integration/delivery including automated unit and integration test strategies
  • Experience with Relational Databases, PostgreSQL preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have:
