  • Successfully and independently handle ambiguous situations and develop a practical plan towards achieving clarity - while defining functional behavior, business rules, and data attributes. 
  • Work with the business stakeholders or sponsors to translate business needs into business and functional requirements, fix the functional gaps and add all the minute details. 
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process analysis, use cases or user stories, scenarios, event lists, competitive product analysis, and task and workflow analysis.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of eCommerce internationalization and localization complexities: content in multiple languages, country-specific product availability, and tax & payment processing.

Other Qualifications

We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to be responsible for defining and delivering all ongoing system enhancements and projects. The anticipated salary range for this position is $124,476 - $169,625. About This Role

About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to help build and manage robust data models, leverage data visualization tools to create dashboards, and partner closely with cross functional teams to design data solutions needed to enable financial reporting and operations. 

 

About the Team

You will be joining the Financial Systems Analytics team, which sits within the Finance department at Instacart. This team is responsible for ensuring financial data is accessible, complete, accurate, and timely for downstream consumers. As part of the team, you will be a key contributor in enabling financial data reporting, analysis, and other critical business operations within Instacart.  

 

About the Job

  • Build and regularly maintain data pipelines and models critical to Instacart’s business operation, including those used for financial reporting and analysis 
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Strategic Finance, Data Science, and other teams across the company to understand their most complex problems and develop effective data solutions, including definition and development of supporting data models and architecture
  • Contribute to the optimization, documentation, testing, and tooling efforts aimed at improving data quality and empowering data consumers across the organization

The Challenge

Meet The Team:

The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst must be able to translate business value goals into user-centered dashboards and visualizations and underlying data models that support decision-making while using best practices for user interaction and interface design. They must be comfortable starting with ill-defined datasets and problems and helping stakeholders to unpack what will be most helpful and achievable given the data available. They use statistical methods to test hypotheses and provide predictive modeling to uncover insights and assess data reliability for strategic planning and reporting. They work with data sets of various kinds and sizes in databases, spreadsheets, and data lakes, and must have strong SQL skills and be able to work in one or multiple BI frameworks depending on need (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.). They must be comfortable working in an agile environment, have experience working with UIs that make data accessible and consumable, enjoy the challenge of highly complex technical contexts, and above all, is passionate about data and analytics.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement novel solutions to monitor and improve business performance and efficiency starting from gathering requirements from stakeholders to partnering with data producing teams and other analysts to build and operationalize functional systems.
  • Define, instrument, and maintain new and existing business KPIs from scratch, leveraging SQL queries and Python scripting.
  • Build automation to ensure we can understand and act on business performance with accurate, scalable, and low latency solutions that require minimal maintenance.
  • Create actionable, user-friendly, and intuitive dashboards using Tableau or other tools - to surface business performance and support scalable data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure transparency of data quality by clearly documenting data sources and data validation processes and regularly auditing the results.
  • Work with IT staff to design and implement secure and sustainable paths for data access from systems to support timely dashboards.
  • Use out-of-the-box thinking to develop and implement solutions to unique challenges.
  • Create documentation and provide training to inform stakeholders and cultivate data literacy within the organization.
  • Answer complex business questions via ad-hoc SQL queries or Python notebooks to enable business owners to make critical decisions.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Degree in Data Analysis, Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
    • BS+ 10+  years of experience OR MS+ 7+ years of experience OR PHD 5+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience in working with databases, business analytics, and large-scale data systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with database design, data modeling, or object modeling.
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence/data analytics tools (Microsoft Power BI, Dashboards, SQL, Tableau, etc.).
  • Analytical thinking with a data-driven approach to problem solving and the ability to extract value from data and connect insights to business outcomes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced/rapidly changing environment, comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, strong analytical and communication skills, comfortable working independently, strong listener, innovator, and the capacity to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

AsSenior Business Systems Analyst, HR Applications, you will be the subject matter expert for all HR business processes, creating robust and scalable HR system solutions for all HR technologies. You will work closely with HR teams to support, solve, implement, and optimize Anaplan's HR applications, primarily focused on Workday modules, Anaplan, and Greenhouse ATS. Your Impact:

  • Serve as domain expert with intermediate to advanced knowledge with hands-on configuration in 3 or more domains: Core HCM, Benefits, Performance, Absence, Compensation, Security, Analytics, and Reporting.
  • Partner with the Sr Principal Architect and HRIS team to drive requirements gathering, process reviews, solution design, project management, testing, training, and documentation.
  • Design end-to-end solutions across HR and beyond to enable interpersonal capability and meet overall HR strategy and priorities.
  • Manage and lead major HR initiatives such as Open Enrollment, Annual Performance and Bonus/Merit Cycle.
  • Provide expertise in Workday platform capabilities and configurations.
  • Support current production modules and proactively identify and propose process improvement activities to increase Workday processes' efficiency.
  • Lead and execute user acceptance testing for Workday releases, new features, and functional changes. Set up POCs and keep Business owners informed of new features.
  • Support upgrades, enhancements, testing, validation, and overall system performance.
  • Lead and resolve case escalations within SLA, providing high-quality and accurate solutions. Provide HR Tier 2 support for Workday, including researching and troubleshooting unexpected results or process flaws.
  • Manage implementation partner teams and be accountable for deliverables.
  • Work with Internal Audit and Operations teams to ensure SOX compliance. Develop auditing processes to ensure data integrity and system accuracy.

Your Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of HRIS experience with broad exposure to various Workday modules (Core HCM, Benefits, Performance/Compensation/Absence/Time Tracking)
  • 5+ years of strong consultative skills with Workday Configuration experience and solid production support skills
  • 2+ years as Workday Security admin. Work with Audit teams and design corrective measures.
  • 3+ years' experience with building EIBs, complex report writing, and a good understanding of Workday Integrations.
  • Ability to be a problem solver and propose multiple solutions for business requirements within Workday.
  • Communicate technical concepts in a concise manner to HR and IT Leadership
  • Ability to lead requirements/design sessions, documentation and work multi-functionally with business customers and functional and technical team members.
  • Workday certifications and exposure to the Anaplan platform are preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Anaplan platform and Greenhouse ATS is a plus.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and JIRA is a plus.
