Summary:

Acquia runs one of the world's largest Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings. Our Drupal optimized cloud runs on over 10,000 AWS instances and delivers billions of page views monthly for our clients, running some of the largest and most mission-critical websites in the world. We are seeking passionate application security engineers with a strong security mindset who are willing to take the initiative to tackle important problems across multiple products at Acquia, with a focus on our cloud hosting platform. 

Our cloud engineering team utilizes a variety of programming languages and technologies to tackle many interesting architecture and scalability challenges. Although we run PHP & MySQL at a massive scale for our Drupal customers, on the backend we’re building scalable systems, automation and stack enhancements in everything from Ruby to Go, and storing data in everything from MySQL to DynamoDB.

At Acquia we work on a variety of exciting projects ranging from running massive microservice infrastructures, to building highly available database clusters using the latest technologies, to building streaming log pipelines and ultimately being the best place in the world to run Drupal websites. We’re one of Amazon’s largest partners and run our workloads in 9 AWS regions.

 

Job Description:

  • Be a Security Champion in an agile Security Engineering team owning and operating the services you build
  • Research, specify, and test cloud hosting architectures leveraging your web, database, and OS knowledge
  • Debug the toughest distributed systems production issues

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of related experience in Security Engineering 
  • Cloud security and compliance experience using AWS (e.g., Firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, DDOS prevention and PCI-DSS, HIPAA, FedRAMP, etc.)
  • Strong software development background using any general programming language
  • Understanding of Kubernetes
  • Passion for websites and website delivery architecture
  • Deep, working knowledge of LAMP stack--OS, web server, and database systems (Linux, Apache, and MySQL preferred)
  • Linux packages (e.g., Debian or RPM packages); RHEL and Ubuntu experience
  • Networking (e.g., TCP/IP, Routing, DNS, load balancing, HTTP caching, clustering, VPN, etc.)
  • Holistic understanding of the Internet and hosting from the network layer up through the application layer.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and drive results

Extra Credit:

  • Software development using Python or Go
  • Experience with threat modeling, especially for web application and web APIs
  • Configuration management (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
  • Containerization:  Docker, LXC, etc.
  • Kubernetes: Hands-on, working experience securing K8s deployments according to “hard multi-tenancy” guidelines and methods.

Position Description

Are you an expert data engineer with a passion for making a difference in the healthcare industry? If so, we want you to join our team at Indigo, where we're using technology to transform medical professional liability insurance. Our AI driven underwriting process and modern technology streamline the insurance process and equip quality physicians and groups with the coverage they need.

As a senior data engineer you will own the various data components of our system, which includes our data model architecture, our data pipeline / ETL, and any ML data engineering needs. You will help us leverage existing data platforms and databases with best practices to ensure that the data strategy is coherent, that our data systems are highly available, secure, and scalable. You will work with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, product managers, and data scientists to ensure our data pipeline system meets business requirements and adheres to best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and build the Indigo data pipeline and ETL process.
  • Design and build the Indigo application datastore architecture and implementation 
  • Define a governance and lineage strategy.
  • Define and implement security across our data systems.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure the code is of high quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product and engineering to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Keep up to date with emerging trends in data engineering and contribute to improving our development processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS or similar; masters advantageous
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience 
  • Expert SQL and Python or Javascript (Node.js)
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and S3.
  • Experience with Snowflake, dbt
  • Strong understanding of data design principles
  • Experience designing and building data products from concept to productization.
  • Experience with automation in the processes of data definition, migration.
  • Excellent design and problem-solving skills.
  • Self starter, highly autonomous, thrives in a remote distributed environment

The Team:

You will be joining Celonis product team, working on platform infrastructure topics, such as core platform services, including the administrator experience. While the product management team is globally distributed, you will be working from Germany/Spain, reporting into a product management lead for the platform infrastructure area.

The Role:

At Celonis we are building a platform which spans across all major hosting providers (AWS, Azure, GCP and others) and a global footprint of deployments. In this role, you will have the opportunity to define and build such a global infrastructure at scale. You will be responsible for running a fleet of cloud deployments being built using the latest cloud technologies. You can work with a team spearheading how to build a next generation cloud platform. You will lead our efforts around building deployment models of our SaaS offering for a global enterprise customer base. Among other topics you will be the Product Manager responsible for:

  • Deployment options - The various deployment options in which our customers can use our Process Intelligence Platform. (Among others including our standard multi-tenant and private deployments)
  • Hosting provider strategy - Various Celonis hosting options across the major providers such as on AWS, Azure, GCP and others. 
  • Integration into hosting provider services - Integration into our customer’s existing infrastructure through cloud services such as PrivateLink.
  • Certified security - Deployment options with enhanced security controls such as FEDRAMP or HIPAA certified options.

The work you’ll do:

  • Define the product strategy and vision for deployment options
  • Drive buy-in and agreement with stakeholders across departments
  • Collaborate with engineering and design counterparts to put the strategy into motion and successfully lead the product to the market
  • Work directly with customers and the go-to-market organization to understand customer needs and improve the product with the highest possible customer impact
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and evangelist for your assigned area of the product

The qualifications you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g. EE, CS); Master’s degree in a technical field (e.g. EE, CS) or similar degree highly preferred.
  • Experience working with core cloud services (examples: S3 / Azure Blob Storage / GCS, EC2, cloud provider load balancer, EBS, PrivateLink, various cloud APIs).
  • You have defined and executed on containerization strategy incorporating technical and business benefits for a SaaS platform
  • Experience in defining, strategizing and executing on a multi-cloud, global expansion roadmap across all major cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • The ability to understand the breadth of our product line as well as the technical ability to drill into details on owned areas.
  • Prior experience defining a product vision and roadmap, and managing incremental execution through successful launches.
  • A proven track record of working on cloud platform teams with numerous deployment strategies and integrations into enterprise customer IT ecosystems.
  • Experience in building a cloud platform sold into enterprise customers
  • You have very good English skills
  • You are a team player
