  • Answer detailed technical questions that arise during demos
  • Respond to RFIs/RFPs from prospective customers with the ideal information to meet their needs
  • Drive the POC (proof-of-concept) process, including giving an overview presentation, create a report on the results, and present the findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Answer detailed questions about Nearmap products
  • Educate the sales team and prospective customers on product roadmap, especially functionality that has recently been released or is planned for an upcoming release.
  • Partner with clients to understand their current systems, technical challenges, business constraints, success criteria, and advise on Nearmap product integrations to support them.

As necessary, assist sales and marketing with the development and delivery of technical content for webinars and trade shows

Xplor is hiring a Remote Software Engineering Manager (Remote)

Join our Central Technology Team as Software Engineering Manager anywhere inNZ to make a real impact every day. We say that because we know that every code line we write, every interface we design and every conversation we have, is another opportunity for us to enrich our customers’ experiences.

Reporting into VP of Software Engineering, you will help us lead a C# team, building and maintaining Xplor’s billing and settlement platforms. These platforms are part of a global full stack payment processing platform supporting integrators, partners, and merchants. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, partnering with Product Management, Site Reliability Engineering, and other teams to deliver and support required functionality across our payment platform. Some of the other responsibilities include:

    Technical:

    • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code based on standards and best practices.
    •  Refactor existing code, write unit tests, and review other team members’ code.
    • Contribute to performance, diagnostic, and troubleshooting analysis of software.
    • Create and maintain documentation for developed APIs.
    • Estimate, plan and implement new features in collaboration with product and design.

    Leadership:

    About our Central Technology team

At Xplor, we have many different products and technologies. We have evolved from a bunch of start-ups to a single company with over 700 Xplorers who work in our CT team as one team across the world. You can find everything from super modern to older languages. We continue to iterate on our processes and technologies to find common ground between the different projects and product we have.

With this, we rely heavily on our engineers to be dynamic. Xplor is not the company (yet) where you’ll always have well-defined requirements and rigid processes. Our Engineers have a lot of input into the process and requirements. However, there can be challenges and ambiguity you as an Engineer have to overcome – and we know that’s not for everyone. The positive side of this is that you get to have a lot of say and ownership in the product and the process.

    Qualifications

    Required qualifications for this role:

    • Senior/Lead level of experience using C#, SQL Server and  developing secure, RESTful APIs

    • Ability to apply your knowledge and experience to system design, while aligning with the architectural vision and direction set by upper management.
    • Professional and articulate communications skills.
    • Prior experience leading a small team, where you manage others while also contributing to the work, is strongly preferred.
    • You’re a true team player who helps your teammates when needed, not just within the scrum team, but across the organization.

    • Experience with Microsoft Azure

At Xplor, we believe that the best innovation and ideas happen at the intersections of our differences - people of diverse cultures, generations, disciplines, and lived experiences. So even if you think you do not tick all the boxes, we still encourage you to apply.

      • Testing infrastructure (various environments and stages)
      • Evolving test automation tools and frameworks used by developers to write and plug their tests in
      • Be on the lookout for how this list can change to our benefit

To do this you will code/script in at least a few programming or scripting languages relevant to the systems in use and/or automating them:

      • Shell scripting languages (sh, bash, …)
      • General purpose languages in use for automation, such as Python, (Bazel) Starlark, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.

You will communicate, share knowledge and ideas with:

      • Peers, to share thoughts, mentor, or be mentored
      • QA Engineers about test automation
      • Developers / Engineers about the use, application, needs, and evolution of the systems they are responsible for

      Requirements

      • Strong computer science fundamentals based on a degree in computer science or distinctive work experience in software development
      • Strong familiarity with Git
      • Build, CI/CD automation track record in a cloud environment
      • Shell scripting prowess in a Linux environment
      • Development track record in at least one of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C and/or C++
      • Test automation track record (infrastructure, unit tests, integration test, system test, …)
      • You can develop foundational tools to be used across the entire company
      • You are comfortable interacting with senior management and project stakeholders, as well as other development teams
      • A demonstrated ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support
      • Exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality
      • You possess strong communication skills and can capture requirements, as well as share your designs and progress

      About our Stack

      • Tooling and infrastructure: GitLab, Bazel, Kubernetes, VS Code server, Linux environment
      • Back-end: Python, Django, PostgreSQL
      • Front-end: TypeScript, Next.js, React/Redu

      About our culture

      • We work in tight-knit teams to maximize speed and cultivate an ownership mentality.
      • We cherish curiosity and an obsession for details because we know these details are invaluable over the long run.

Imagine you want to redesign your home and have been searching for new tiles for your kitchen, or a new rug for your living room. You definitely want to make sure it will look good in your space. We enable that through cutting-edge computer vision technology, presented in an extraordinarily simple and accessible way. About our results
Our customers see a 5x increase in e-commerce conversion rates and a dramatic decrease in the time it takes for their customers to make a purchase decision. We are also reducing the world’s carbon footprint by eliminating trips to the store and avoiding product returns, while also saving marriages -- now you can be sure you’re buying the right product for your home.

About our office and remote work
We are located in downtown Toronto with nearby access to both of the main subway lines. Currently, we are all working from home; we encourage our teams to work from wherever they are most productive, and many of us will continue to work from home in the future, either full-time or partially. While we're all working remotely, we’ve come up with a few ways to keep everyone on the same page, including a quick company-wide check-in every Monday, remote coffee breaks on Fridays, and ad hoc topical sharing sessions. Another big upside is you get to be around your pets and plants (if you have them).

      About our hiring process
Now: You upload your resume and complete a brief questionnaire.

Step 1: We arrange a video call with you to assess your abilities.

Step 2: You attend the second video interview soon after.

Cloudflare's network is one of the largest in the world and spans over 300 cities in more than 100 countries. What's more, Cloudflare operates within 50 milliseconds of 95% of the Internet-connected population globally (for context, the blink of an eye is 300-400 milliseconds!).
