About the team

Cloudflare is redefining the way networks are run at scale. Our Network Services product suite puts the connectivity, scale, and performance of Cloudflare’s global network in front of customers’ network infrastructure and private networks, providing a single pane of glass for network connectivity, visibility, and operating network functions like DoS mitigation, Next-Gen Firewall, IDS/IPS, WAN optimization, and more. We are a team of engineers and product managers who obsess over quickly building products that solve real customer problems using innovative technologies and techniques which leverage Cloudflare’s unique architecture and global network footprint.

About the role

We are hiring engineers of all experience levels across many of our teams. Some of the things our teams work on include:

  • A Linux kernel-based networking dataplane which ingests and forwards traffic from some of the largest networks in the world
  • A userspace networking service which acts as a hub between our Network Services and Zero Trust systems, enabling every customer to access every product
  • Network software running on a hardware appliance that provides zero touch connectivity to the Cloudflare network and SD-WAN functions
  • Next-generation firewall functions implemented across Linux netfilter, eBPF, and userspace packet processing
  • Flow and log collection, correlation, and analytics systems to provide customers with unparalleled visibility into their own networks
  • Control plane systems which allow customers to simply express complex network configurations

As a Software Engineer on our team, you will work across a wide range of technologies and systems to deliver new features, improve performance, and increase the scalability of our Network Services products. You’ll build, deploy, and operate your team’s systems on top of one of the largest edge networks in the world. You’ll partner with some of the best engineers and product managers to solve big problems that have a meaningful impact in the lives of our customers and users.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Experience building and shipping large-scale, reliable, highly distributed systems
  • Systems-level programming experience, especially in Rust and/or Go

Compensation

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. There are multiple levels open on the team, both mid & senior level.

Senior Level (4)

  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $196,000 - $240,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $187,000 - $229,000.
  • For Colorado-basedhires: Estimated annual salary of $168,000 - $206,000.

Mid Level (2 - 3)

  • For Colorado-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $115,000 - $167,000
  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $133,000 - $188,000
  • For Bay Area-based hires: Estimated annual salary of $140,000 - $198,000

Duties and responsibilities

  • Understand company and product strategy and develop roadmap for your team to achieve the product strategy

  • Engage, collaborate and help learnerson the OffSec Community Platform through live chat and email support
  • Present live stream videos or webinars for concept demonstration, machine walkthroughs, or topics related to cybersecurity
  • Participate in projects including, but not limited to, curriculum and learning path designs, reviewing new courses, and implementing new tools and systems, etc.
  • Grade exams
  • Test, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot OffSec lab systems and machines
  • Create and maintain department document guidelines, procedures and processes

  • Assist cross-functional teams as needed

  • You have experience with penetration tests and vulnerability assessments; including internal, external, wireless, mobile, and web application testing.
  • You have an understanding of API’s, how they work, and how to test them.
  • You have used cloud CSP’s such as AWS, Azure, AliCloud, Google cloud, Rackspace, and any internal associated components/controls.
  • You can perform social engineering campaigns including phishing, vishing, and physical.
  • You can re-image your own system when necessary, and navigate Kali Linux to conduct penetration tests, with only command line access as necessary.
  • You can create, modify, and write documents from command line, and write Bash scripts to automate or facilitate tasks as necessary.
  • You can write professional reports with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation, that need very little QA review.
  • You can communicate with clients, and understand if something needs to be escalated internally.
  • You are comfortable monitoring the metrics of a project, personal utilization, and constant improvement toward efficiency.
  • You are willing to expand your knowledge, obtain relevant certifications, and meet CPE requirements as necessary.
  • You are ready and willing to learn, and accept a new challenge.
  • You have an OSCP certification

Skills:

  • You have working knowledge of Kali Linux and standard security assessment tools (e.g., NMAP, metasploit, Scapy, Burp Suite, SSLStrip, Ettercap, Nessus, Nikto, AppScan) and  can talk about any others you have used.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You can run scans and perform tests with minimal impact to client networks.
  • You have an understanding of both iOS and Android application testing, and how to jailbreak/root devices, use emulators.
  • You know about SOAP/REST/JSON web APIs and how to test them.
  • You have experience using interpreted languages (Ruby, Python, PHP, etc.) 
  • You can explain findings in a non-technical form.

The ideal candidate may also have:

  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages: Ruby, Python, Perl, C, C++, Java, and C#
  • Knowledge of network protocol design, or zero day exploitation

About the Role:

The Azure Sr. Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the successful implementation of Azure architectures and environments. The Azure Sr. Cloud Engineer will act as an expert and trusted advisor who provides guidance for transforming legacy implementations to the cloud. What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for design, development, and hands-on implementation of Microsoft Azure cloud solutions

Job Description

As a member of Experian's Global Security Office (EGSO)/Cyber Fusion Center (CFC), you will respond, contain, escalate, investigate, and coordinate mitigation of security events relative to anomalies detected and escalated by the Cyber Fusion Center according to Experian's Incident Response Plan. As an individual contributor, this team member will join a new, growing team of specialized, advanced responders to support escalations of complex and prioritized matters from Experian's existing 24x7 security monitoring and response functions, responsible for responding to and analyzing security incidents involving threats targeting Experian information assets. You will work with end-users, technical support teams, and management to ensure remediation and recovery from these threats.

You will report to the CFC Senior Director of Incident Management and Security Operations.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct advanced incident response activities to investigate and contain complex or larger-scale cybersecurity matters
  • Orchestrate workstreams across teams (Forensics and Cyber Threat Hunting) and hold responsibility for explaining the CFC's overall understanding of the timeline of attacker activity so that appropriate containment and remediation actions can be coordinated
  • Respond to cyber security events and alerts associated with threats, intrusions, or compromises per any applicable SLOs
  • Manage multiple cases related to security incidents throughout the incident response lifecycle, including Analysis, Containment, Eradication, Recovery, and Lessons Learned
  • Coordinate successful conclusion of security incidents according to Process & Procedures, and escalate severe incidents according to Experian's Incident Response Plan
  • Maintain case documentation, including notes, analysis findings, containment steps, and cause for each assigned security incident
  • Maintain assigned caseload and move incidents through each phase of the IR Lifecycle, handing off cases as needed for progress
  • Maintain an understanding of common Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Mac OS), Security Technologies (Anti-Virus, Intrusion Prevention), and Networking (Firewalls, Proxies)
  • Interpret device and application logs from a variety of sources (Firewalls, Proxies, Web Servers, System Logs, Splunk, Packet Captures) to identify the root cause and determine the next steps for containment, eradication, and recovery
  • Mentor and provide advanced support to analysts (Logs review, IP Block question)
  • Support overall direction for the CFC and input to the security strategy

Qualifications

Your background:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or a related field, or 8+ years of experience working within Security Operations Centers or Cyber Security Incident Response Teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Incident Response and Investigative Methodology
  • Must have knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP), standard protocols (HTTP/S, DNS, SSH, SMTP, SMB), wireless networking, networking infrastructure, and network topologies (DMZ, VPN, WAN) and network technologies (WAF, IPS, Routers, Firewalls)
  • Experience with commercial and open-source SIEMs, full packet capture tools, and network analysis tools (Splunk, Wireshark, SOF-ELK)
  • Exhibit skills using common Incident Response and Security Monitoring applications such as SIEM (Splunk), EDR (FireEye HX, CrowdStrike Falcon, McAfee mVision EDR), WAF, IPS
  • Demonstrated knowledge of common intrusion methods and cyber-attack tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Must have at least one certification involving incident response, ethical hacking, cyber security (GCIH, E|CEH, E|CIH), or network forensics (GIAC Network Forensic Analyst (GNFA), NICCS Certified Network Forensics Examiner (CNFE))

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating a tailor-made architecture.
  • Deployment of advanced services on the cloud.
  • Implement automation solutions.
  • Maintain a feedback loop with the company’s customers to ensure deliveries are in accordance with the customer’s needs and expectations.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and fix technical issues.
  • Set up large-scale monitoring and logging solutions.

Requirements:

  • 3+ Experience with AWS cloud providers.
  • 3+ years of professional IT experience (especially with strong Linux Networking).
  • Scripting abilities in at least two of the following Python (lambda).
  • Strong foundations with Git git/github actions (level 2 from 5).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools Terraform + terragrunt.
  • Experience with Security Products (Firewall, Web Gateways, Proxies).
  • Strong Experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, Swarm, Docker, etc’).
  • Familiarity with the Agile methodology.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role.
  • Creative troubleshooting skills and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Ability to learn various technologies and topics.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, CircleCI, CodePipeline).
  • Serverless architecture knowledge.

  • Experience with centralized logging platforms (ELK)
  • GitOps Mythology familiarity (ArgoCD, Flux)
  • Information security orientation
  • AWS Certifications
  • Experience with production environments
  • AWS Security tooling and Best practices (Security Hub, AWS Config, WAF / Shield, etc)
  • AWS Landing Zone and Multi-account strategy
  • CKA / CKAD certification
