About the team

As a backend software engineer on the Magic Visibility team, you will contribute across a wide range of technologies and systems to deliver new products that provide network visibility and insights to our customers. You will help build and grow a globally distributed network data collector and the pipeline that delivers, processes, and stores the massive stream of data. You will build backend services that analyze this network data and correlate it with a multitude of other data sources within Cloudflare. You will build APIs and integrations with other products such as DDoS mitigation, Magic Transit, and Magic Firewall to enable customers to take action on insights we surface. You will scale all of these technologies to enable access to these products to all Cloudflare customers.

We’re looking for curious, empathetic engineers who are excited to work across the whole stack of technologies we use at Cloudflare to quickly deliver end-to-end solutions!

Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience

  • Experience building, shipping, and supporting large-scale software applications
  • Experience with message streaming and stream processing technologies, such as Kafka
  • Background in statistics, mathematical analysis, and data modeling
  • Knowledge of SQL and common relational database systems such as PostgreSQL
  • Systems-level programming experience, especially in Go or Rust

  • For New York City, Washington, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $187,000 - $229,000.
  • For Colorado-basedhires: Estimated annual salary of $168,000 - $206,000.

About the team

The Magic Cloud Networking team builds an orchestration framework that empowers customers to take public cloud resources (e.g., AWS / Azure / GCP) and securely connect them to Cloudflare’s global data-center footprint. Working with public cloud networking resources provides unique challenges—each cloud models networking very differently, customers can modify resources out-of-band of our orchestration system (“shadow IT operations”), resources can fail in opaque and varied ways outside of our control, etc.. To solve these issues, our orchestration platform must be resilient and scalable, while also affording flexibility to the unique constraints of each cloud. Powering this orchestration framework is a set of Go-based microservices running in our core data-centers, leveraging Cloudflare’s infrastructure excellence.

About the role

As a software engineer on the Magic Cloud Networking team, you will contribute to features that shape Cloudflare One’s use of multi-cloud networking. You will build solutions that improve performance, scalability, manageability, and security of customer cloud footprints as well as connect them to our global network. This work requires close collaboration with other teams while leveraging powerful frameworks and libraries that power many Cloudflare products. We are hiring engineers of all experience levels across many of our teams. Some of the things our teams work on include:

  • A Linux kernel-based networking dataplane which ingests and forwards traffic from some of the largest networks in the world
  • A userspace networking service which acts as a hub between our Network Services and Zero Trust systems, enabling every customer to access every product
  • Network software running on a hardware appliance that provides zero touch connectivity to the Cloudflare network and SD-WAN functions
  • Next-generation firewall functions implemented across Linux netfilter, eBPF, and userspace packet processing
  • Flow and log collection, correlation, and analytics systems to provide customers with unparalleled visibility into their own networks

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES- Project Manager | IT Effectiveness - Project Management [NPS031036]

Serve as a Project Manager and provide coverage for swim lane tasks primarily considered in alignment with Task 2.4.5 - Project Management related activities to Provide project management expertise to manage the deployment and execution of IT projects.
