The Role: Manager, Software Engineering

As an Engineering Manager on the team, you will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team of web, mobile, and backend engineers who build the services, products, and experiences that users love within the Gemini credit card ecosystem. You’ll support the learning and development of your team, build our product roadmap alongside your product partners, help the team quickly ship features and test multiple iterations, and foster a world-class engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer, Infra you will be a key player in building and enhancing the reliability and observability of our services across the engineering organization. You will be part of a centralized team focused on improving incident management, introducing auto-scaling and resilience mechanisms, conducting chaos testing, and self-healing. Your work will be instrumental in establishing a center of excellence for reliability, establishing and evangelizing best practices, and developing tools to scale these practices across all engineering teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Use modern infrastructure management tools and services like AWS to build a massively scalable platform for Grammarly’s services.
  • Be an ambassador for Operational Excellence - building and continually improving incident management tooling and processes.
  • Implement proactive reliability improvements to reduce manual intervention and increase reliability. This includes automated deployment improvements, canary analysis, self-healing mechanisms, and autoscaling.
  • Manage cloud-native infrastructure solutions, such as cross-service infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters and deployments, auto-scaling tool sets, and service discovery.
  • Build solutions and frameworks to spin up, test, deploy, and observe Grammarly’s service reliability.
  • Participate in on-call incident response and escalation procedures.

Qualifications

  • Has a minimum of 7 years of experience managing live production SaaS environments with high load.
  • Is experienced in working on a centralized reliability or SRE team configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure solutions such as container orchestration and service discovery in Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Background in software development or engineering roles with a focus on reliability.
  • Is knowledgeable on all things Reliability and how to scale those solutions across the engineering organization.

The US-based salary range for this position is $160,000 to $225,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated ability in delivering simple, elegant solutions within complex product ecosystems

What might your days look like

  • Mentor and advise product development teams in the area of application security
  • Assist teams in reproducing, triaging, and addressing application security vulnerabilities
  • Assist in the implementation of security processes and automated tooling that prevent classes of security issues
  • Design and implement Typescript code libraries and patterns to improve application security
  • Perform security-focused code reviews
  • Work with infrastructure teams to ensure our systems are secure
  • Support the bug bounty program
  • Evaluate tools, from SAST/DAST to cloud security analysis tooling, among others
  • Lead application security reviews and threat modeling, including code review and dynamic testing
  • Help develop security training and socialize the material with product development teams

What You Will Bring to the Table

Experience it’s important for you to have at some level:

  • Software development experience, ideally with Javascript/Typescript, or another programming language such as Python or Ruby
  • Familiarity with secure coding practices
  • Familiarity with security tools and libraries such as static/dynamic analysis tools and penetration testing tools
  • Familiarity with and ability to explain common security flaws and ways to address them (e.g. OWASP Top 10)
  • Strong understanding and experience with common security libraries, security controls, and common security flaws
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience that would be helpful:

  • Familiarity with AI/LLMs for enhancing code quality and automating security analysis.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, containerd, etc) and Kubernetes

As a Digital Project Manager in the Marketing Operations team, you will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of digital marketing projects that support our growth objectives. You will work cross-functionally with other teams in marketing and revenue operations, website and lifecycle, brand activation and campaign teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet the company's standards.
