Job Description

The position of Business Intelligence Analyst is a home-based role within the health division of NEC Software Solutions working on web-based applications supporting our registries and screening business areas and includes working as part of Agile teams using a user-centred design approach with documented user stories as well as some work under Waterfall methodologies with documented functional specifications.

This role will be working as a Business Intelligence Analyst within the Product & Proposition team, where you will:

  • Create clear and concise user stories/functional specifications to accurately reflect the requirements for a given project, documenting detailed information as required in a manner which is easy to understand
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on your designate product line
  • Produce mock-ups and wireframes for review with internal and external stakeholders
  • To create and manage change requests with regards to changes in project scope
  • Contribute to agreement and sign-off of user stories/specifications with the customer
  • Respond to queries from development and QA teams
  • Liaise with the Product Owner/Manager to ensure requirements are in line with the product strategy
  • Learn and understand the business contexts, processes and protocols that our systems support and deliver for our customers
  • Work with internal teams (IT and Business) to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and transition to Business as Usual (BAU) state
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with many different team members across the business and technology areas
  • Ensure agreed standards applicable to the work undertaken are adhered to
  • Attend user group and customer meetings to obtain and respond to feedback
  • Deliver demonstrations and showcases to customers as required 
  • Develop, optimise and document business processes
  • Work closely with developers, architects, other business analysts, and the client's representatives to define the direction, approach and requirements to project manage design and development
  • Gathering, identifying and documenting business requirements

The role of Business Intelligence Analyst is home-based; however, travel will be required throughout the United Kingdom to liaise with customers as required to suit the needs and demands of the products.

This is a crucial analysis role that will allow you the ability to learn and enhance your analytical skills and interpret client requirements along with building your business domain knowledge. You will take full responsibility for the functionality you document, ensuring that it delivers on the business needs, engages users, and is maintainable and robust. You will be highly motivated and able to demonstrate an excellent mix of analytical and technical skills with a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to learn new skills.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will contribute to a team-wide process of continual improvement for NEC Software Solutions and in return you will be rewarded with a structured career path.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Extensive previous experience in the IT industry (e.g., through a placement) OR has demonstrable relevant experience within the IT industry ideally with Healthdata 
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver in a fast-moving environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal/team skills
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and data warehouse concepts
  • Knowledge of database management systems like SQL Server, MySQL
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros
  • Knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes and tools
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R for data analysis and automation.
  • Understanding of scripting for data processing and transformation.
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, or Looker.
  • Ability to create dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritisation skills, with a proven ability to work to deadlines.

  • Collaboration: Experience interfacing with internal stakeholders and colleagues on the development and definition of client and program specific KPIs
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Ability to use statistical analysis tools (such as SQL, R, or SAS) to extract insights from complex healthcare data sets, interpret trends, and derive actionable recommendations - experience with Athena preferred
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills will be essential to convey complex information to stakeholders and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and clients
  • Project Execution: Experience setting goals and meeting deadlines for multiple ongoing projects

      As a team our mission is to empower all Carwow teams with access to reliable, actionable data and enable informed decision-making through scalable and secure data platforms.

      We’re investing heavily in our Data Engineering capabilities at carwow, ensuring we have the expertise to deliver infrastructure and data-driven best practices that support the growing needs of our Data Analytics team. We build our ETL pipelines in Python and SQL, using Airflow to automate workflows, with data ingested into a Snowflake warehouse from various in-house and 3rd party sources and Terraform to manage infrastructure.

      Our tech stack is primarily Ruby on Rails using PostgreSQL, all hosted on Heroku. We use Terraform to manage our infrastructure and encourage teams to be involved in how we deploy and run our code in Production.

      WHAT YOU’LL DO

      • You will be the Technical Lead within the Data Engineering squad, working simultaneously with the Principal Engineer, Product Manager and Engineering Manager whilst partnering closely with our Analytics & Data Science team to help enhance their productivity
      • You will help to shape the technical strategy for our approach to building data products and the future of Data Engineering at carwow by providing knowledge and expertise in optimum practices and implementation. This includes developing and testing product improvements
      • You will lead the Data Engineering team in scoping how new features can be built and how Stakeholder needs can be met while making pragmatic technical trade-offs
      • Develop and enhance our data architecture and pipelines to enable us to deliver versus our business goals
      • Collaborate with, and mentor your team by reviewing code, monitoring and guiding your team's software in production. Collaborate with other Stakeholders helping them to do their finest work and deliver projects according to our values and brand
      • Define a roadmap of initiatives to both improve our current infrastructure and assist other teams in creating new data products.

      • Identify the important technical differentiating factors of our data product, and leverage those in our architecture

      WHAT YOU’LL NEED

      • Previous experience as a Senior Data Engineer or Technical Lead
      • Knowledge of data modelling and schema design with a focus on efficiency, accuracy and scalability
      • Experience with SQL, Python, data infrastructure, SQL ETL/ELT knowledge, experience with DAGs to oversee script dependencies with tools like dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Terraform
      • It's preferred but not essential if you have experience in Ruby, data visualisation tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI), Amplitude, DevOps, Circle CI/CD, AWS
      • Experience guiding and mentoring distributed teams of Engineers to success, working cross-functionally with Product Managers, Stakeholders, and other Developers
      • A desire to learn continuously, share your knowledge, communicate effectively and build a product in close collaboration with others. You raise the bar for technical quality and sharing your expertise

      Myers-Holum is expanding operations to India, and is actively seeking experienced Senior Consultants with strong data warehousing and business intelligence experience to play a pivotal role in the expansion of the India Practice.

      Responsibilities

      • Design, build, and test custom data warehouse and BI solutions for Myers-Holum clients using the Oracle NetSuite Analytics Warehouse (NSAW) platform
      • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
      • Develop custom data integration solutions to ingest data from multiple sources (cloud and on-premise) using various data integration / data pipelining tools, Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), and Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW)
      • Lead the product implementation, from start to finish acting as a trusted advisor to the stakeholders and end users
      • In addition to meeting with the client during implementation phase, also run product training, and technical workshops with the client/end users
      • Contribute to various internal MHI initiatives including resource mentorship and ongoing education
      • Implement NSAW Best Practices

      Qualifications and Skills

      • 8+ years of relevant professional experience
      • 4+ years experience with data management using Oracle or other relational database
      • 4+ years experience with data warehouse and data integration projects, using ETL / data integration / data pipelining tools
      • Proficiency with at least one cloud or on-premise data integration / data pipelining tool, such as Fivetran, Stitch, Talend, Glue, Nexla, Informatica, Oracle Data Integrator
      • Proficiency in at least one version of SQL: Oracle (preferred), SQLServer, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake
      • Experience with at least one of the following BI tools: Oracle OBIEE, OAC, Looker, PowerBI, Qlikview, Tableau
      • Experience with using REST APIs and/or GraphQL APIs to get data from cloud data sources is preferred
      • Knowledge of ERP data and business processes
      • Business analysis skills
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
